About the work: The painting as a whole represents a clear model of the Bedouin man as described in the poetic texts: steadfast, majestic, and with a presence that does not need movement to assert itself. “I drew its details from the language itself, from the poems; from the majesty of the men that poets write about when prose fails to describe them. And so this man was born… not from a reality I saw, but from an imagination shaped by the poems, and from the patience of the desert that settled in my soul as I painted him.”
