Fairoozan Dursun

Fairoozan is a paper artist and illustrator. She has been interested in various forms of papercraft since her school years, it took her quite a while to find her own way of bringing together her love of paper with her experience in painting. She has actually discovered a new way of using the basic paper technique as she is drawing with paper instead of on it, at that time point she had no idea it was called (Paper Quilling) and she made the quilling process exciting and modern. These paper artworks can take from a few days to a few weeks or even longer – it all depends on the level of detail, size, and design, the largest paper artwork she ever made took her around 6 weeks. A former art teacher with more than 15 years of experience, she finished a bachelor’s degree from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad, in Bagdad, Iraq. Her artworks have been shown in many exhibitions in various countries worldwide and in different states all over the USA. Paper Quilling Paper quilling technique is the art of cutting paper into long thin strips, rolling the pieces into different shapes, and then gluing the shapes together to form decorative art. Paper quilling projects can be as small as decorate cards, boxes, gift bags, picture frames, or even be made into complex artworks or 3D stand-alone art pieces. Quilling can be accomplished using simple tools like strips of paper, a toothpick, knitting needle, or similar object, and some glue. These paper artworks can take from a few days to a few weeks or even longer – it all depends on the level of details, size and design, the largest paper artwork I ever made took me around 6 weeks. Exhibitions and participation 1. 2024 – Joint Jordanian-Iraqi art exhibition, celebrating King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein’s birthday and the Silver Jubilee of his accession to the throne. This event is orchestrated by the Iraqi Forum for Culture and Arts and held at Jodar Gallery in Amman, Jordan. 2.
