About the work: This painting embodies the city of Baghdad—the city where I was born and lived for over a decade. Fate led us elsewhere, and nearly thirteen years have passed since I last visited Baghdad. The idea for this painting came to me when I participated in an exhibition that asked artists to express a city through their artwork. At that time, my feelings perfectly reflected what appears in this painting: I knew that my soul visited Baghdad every night, leaving flowers there—flowers that carried longing, prayers, and wishes for its safety and for its people to enjoy peace and prosperity. And so… this painting was born. This… is Baghdad.

نبذة عن العمل : هذه اللوحة تُجسّد مدينة بغداد — المدينة التي وُلدت فيها وعشت بين أحيائها أكثر من عقدٍ من الزمن. قادنا القدر إلى مكان آخر، وها قد مضت ما يقارب ثلاثة عشر عامًا دون أن أزور بغداد. جاءت فكرة هذه اللوحة عندما شاركتُ في معرض يطلب من الفنانين التعبير عن مدينة ما من خلال أعمالهم الفنية. في تلك الفترة، كانت مشاعري تعكس تمامًا ما يظهر في هذه اللوحة: كنت أعلم أن روحي تزور بغداد كل ليلة، وتترك هناك زهورًا — زهورًا تحمل الحنين، والدعاء، والأمنيات بأن تبقى آمنة، وأن ينعم أهلها بالسلام والخير. وهكذا… وُلدت هذه اللوحة. هذه… هي بغداد.
